Edition 766 of The Big Issue Australia — “The Big Picture”, a feature on photographer Chris Linder

Commissioned by The Big Issue Australia for its “The Big Picture” feature, this article explores American conservation photographer Chris Linder’s photographs of southern rockhopper penguins in the Falkland Islands. Drawing on a conversation about wildlife photography, observation and conservation, the piece considers the patience and technical challenges behind capturing these remarkable birds, and the role of photography in making scientific stories accessible to a wider audience.

Catalogue Essay for Bonnie-Jean Whitlock's "Apophenie Junk Pile" at Red Gallery

May 2026 

Commissioned by Bonnie-Jean Whitlock, this exhibition catalogue essay examines the artist’s material-led painting practice through embodiment, process, and sensation. Drawing on a studio visit and conversation with Whitlock, the essay explores her collaborative relationship with materials, the role of body mapping, and how pigment, wax, salt, and linen become sites for memory, touch, and transformation.

April 2026 

Commissioned by The Big Issue Australia, this feature interview with poet Nikita Gill explores myth, girlhood and storytelling as sites of reclamation. The writing considers how Gill reimagines silenced figures through verse, tracing intersections between voice, memory and power across both ancient narrative and contemporary experience.

CAVES Gallery – Melbourne Art Fair 2026 Catalogue Descriptions

Commissioned by CAVES Gallery for Melbourne Art Fair 2026, this catalogue text examines the practices of Aaron C. Carter, Noriko Nakamura and Mira Gojak. The writing considers how each artist engages material as a site of memory, transformation and embodiment, tracing intersections between body, landscape and gesture across ceramics, bronze and drawing.
